Stop looking for friends. You have none.

Now get over it, and do what you have to do.

Returning to the issue, I think that we can definitely consider them our friends. Perhaps not from the depths of our hearts, but for practical purposes, definitely.

Aside from their slightly noticeable logo, their website does contain several links to MDA, the IDF, and the Free Pollard movement. And if you read the 'Our Beliefs' section, it doesn't look worrisome at all. Though I don't like point 15. Neither do I agree with much of the rest (I support outlawing personal firearms, I oppose outlawing homosexuality etc.), but those are normal points of political discussion, not at all controversial.

Let me copy point 23.

"23. That the U.S. should boycott and stop all foreign aid to nations that persecute or permit the persecution of Christians and Jews."

They shouldn't be our friends anymore after they fought and died for us and then we dumped them like yesterday's trash and refused to grant them asylum.

Israel has a terrible habit of punishing the few nations who do help us and it is a Huge Chillul Hashem.....

I'm not sure that Israelis are good at "doing" the whole political bedfellow thing, and pulling it off with positive results. And I'm not sure it's G_d's best for them, either.

It may very well be that Jews in Israel have learned what many in America and Europe have-that trust has to be 100% or nothing.

I'm not too keen on Greek Orthodox , most of whom are fiercely pro-Palli.

Our allies were (are?)mostly Maronite (Aramaic speaking) Christians and Phalangists like the Gemayels, Walid Phares, Abu Arz, Former SLA chief of staff Antoine Lahad and Michel Aoun (potentially). Many Christian Chaldeans too (mostly in Iraq and parts of Syria) are also pro-israel. I understand tthe maronites were once the most powerful ethnic group at least among the christians and probably the most numerous (partly due to French favoritism). I wonder what percentage they now constitute among the Christians.

How do we reconcile this with the recent polls showing 99% of Lebanese have a negative attitude toward Jews? unless maronite christians constitute 1 % of Lebanon's population or that polls are unreliable especially in an intolerant country where the wrong answer may get you in trouble..

Lebanese Faction: "No Palestinian Should Be Left in Lebanon"
18:49 Sep 26, '05 / 22 Elul 5765

(IsraelNN.com) A Christian Lebanese organization called Guardians of the Cedars is running a recruitment campaign that calls for expelling or killing Arabs in PLO refugee camps and confiscating their property.

The organization held a news conference earlier this month during which CDs were distributed with the slogans "No Palestinian Should Be Left in Lebanon". The Guardians of the Cedars is formulating itself as a political party anew after the Syrian withdrawal from Lebanon.

Lebanese police arrested three leaders of the Guardians party for "breaching judicial clauses" and "harming relations with Arab countries" following the September 13 press conference. PLO sources called the arrested men "pro-Israeli." The expatriate leader of the group, Etienne Sakr (known as Abu Arz), has been sentenced to death in absentia for collaborating with Israel.

I have to say I never met a Lebanese person, even a Christian Lebanese, who was pro-Israel.

Interesting. I always assumed Jeanine Pirro was Hispanic. And I thought Ralph Nader was Palestinian.

I thought Pirro was just a low-class Italian Republican clone from Westchester, with a mobbed-up husband and a thirst for revenge.

:D :D :D

Come on, compared to many Dutch politicians, Ralph Nader is really a friend of Israel.

For whatever it's worth, a recent poll showed that the Dutch have the most favorable opinion of Jews (I think it was in the 80 percent range). Don't know how accurate that poll was because France came in second place...

Lebanese Christian woman loves Israel
By: TED S. STRATTON Staff Reporter

TV personality educates people about country that helped save her family

Brigette Gabriel will never forget one fateful day in 1975. One moment she was sitting in her upper-class home in Lebanon with her family. The next moment shells came screaming in from the battle taking place 50 yards above her house, and she was buried under tons of rubble.

For two-and-a-half long months, the then 10-year-old Brigette was hospitalized. When she returned to her village of Marjayoun, five kilometers from the Israel border, her once-pleasant house had become a makeshift bomb shelter. The Muslim insurgents had completely decimated her mostly Christian town and they now controlled the key positions in Southern Lebanon. (Gabriel is Maronite, which she describes as equivalent to Roman Catholic).

Gabriel stayed underground for seven years while civil war between Muslim militias and Maronite Christians raged on around her. From age ten to 17, she ate grass to supplement the meager servings of chickpeas, rice and lentils her mother was able to provide. She dodged snipers to get drinking and cooking water from a nearby spring.

"I was robbed of my y
