I've been working with the server technical support staff out in hoopitsville for a little while (*note - i also co-own the reseller account that hashkafah.com is on). after lots of talk, we've decided to move the adminstrative end of the site from Ensim to DirectAdmin.
if you don't know what this is, let me explain. the software used to configure the entire site (users/php/sql/etc) is all run on a juky platform called Ensim. DirectAdmin rocks and will clear up those nasty 503 Errors you've been getting. now things should be FASTER and SMOOTHER. enjoy the ride. -------------------- Hashkafah.com: Think for Yourself™

WTG! Plesk is tops IMHO (I use it on all my servers) but anything is better than Ensim.

Now that hashkafah.com is working on the new platform a few changes are going to be made which require the site to be done for a few days.

What happens when a DNS server gets updated is that there is a new IP address, and all the computers and hosts throughout the world have to 'learn' the new IP address. Most servers refresh themselves every few days, so thats why it may take that long. For some people it will be up within hours.

 I do it all day. However the J man seems to be saying something else like a mySQL upgrade or something as he said about not being able to post. Plus there are several ways to migrate to a new server without having to wait until the DNS propogates. One way is to edit the DNS zone on the "old" server with the IP of the new server then changing the DNS entries with the registrar and the propogation will happen in the usual 24-72 hours. Once the propogation is done, you shut off the old server and walla you had a seamless switch. -------------------- "You crazy, crazy boy." ~Someone
