I think I've said it all in the title, except perhaps, 'how to exploit the system to one's benefit as an oleh or toshav arai', i.e. what are the benefits of each with regards to nbn and the medina, i.e. passport to passport purchase of cars, reductions on buying apartments, working freelance in Israel whilst registered in a company abroad, and so benefitting from a gentler tax environment etc.

I wouldn't mind helping with this, although my speciality is in the shipping and related rights. I can say that the law is pretty detailed, and each status has slightly different rights.

What I would suggest to anyone considering Aliya or Return would be to talk to both the local Shaliach, as well as NBN (If you're coming from North America or the UK) and then come here with specific questions.

These laws also change, and keeping on top of them is almost a full time job.
