Is it common to recite a shehechiyanu on a new tallit or arba kanfot? Is the shehechiyanu said before or after the berachah for the tallit? If you are one of those who obscures his arba kanfot because of the tzeirei chumra of the double hole for the arba kanfot, is it appropriate to recite a shehechiyanu, or is that immaterial and you just say the berachah in private?

I observed a rabbi here save it for when he got an aliya on shabbos. Why? Isn't "saving a berachah" usually done to get out of a safek? What's the connection to an aliyah? QUOTE Why before?? I dunno. I thought there were opinions that you say the shehechiyanu first, like the Shulchan Aruch Harav 22:1 and the Be'er Heitev 22 s'k 2. |

Why? Isn't "saving a berachah" usually done to get out of a safek? What's the connection to an aliyah? He probably saved the tallis and the beracha for Shabbos. I don't know why he saved it for when he got the aliya, but he has a 20-minute fast-paced derasha for everything under the sun. QUOTE I dunno. I thought there were opinions that you say the shehechiyanu first, like the Shulchan Aruch Harav 22:1 and the Be'er Heitev 22 s'k 2. Thanks. So, I guess, lubavitchers do this? -------------------- One for all, all for one!
