1. Why does the Chabad siddur have "al" in brackets in the concluding berachah as in "Yehalelucha H' E-lokeinu (al) kol ma'asecha"? Why doesn't the siddur take a stand one way or another? How's a Lubavitcher to choose or are both versions equally valid and some rivers flow this way and some rivers flow that way?

The minhag is not to say "al". I don't know why it's in parenthesis...... Maybe they are davka showing NOT to say it, and if they didn't put it at all people would assume it is a mistake......

I think maybe cause Nusech Ari does say it while the Baal HaTanya did not

Alternatively, it is a "Hago" from the Tzemach Tzedek on the siddur.
