Yesterday we walked to a restaurant and it rained while we were out. I had left my car window open in the driveway and when we came back, a neighbor had taped a garbage bag to cover the window.
Just saying. |

Yesterday we walked to a restaurant and it rained while we were out. I had left my car window open in the driveway and when we came back, a neighbor had taped a garbage bag to cover the window. Just saying. Did you say thank you? Sounds like you are lucky to have a considerate neighbor!! -------------------- “The danger of ancient liberty was that men, exclusively concerned with securing their share of social power, might attach too little value to individual rights and enjoyments. The danger of modern liberty is that, absorbed in the enjoyment of our private independence, and in the pursuit of our particular interests, we should surrender our right to share in political power too easily. The holders of authority are only too anxious to encourage us to do so. They are so ready to spare us all sort of troubles, except those of obeying and paying! They will say to us: what, in the end, is the aim of your efforts, the motive of your labours, the object of all your hopes? Is it not happiness? Well, leave this happiness to us and we shall give it to you. No, Sirs, we must not leave it to them. No matter how touching such a tender commitment may be, let us ask the authorities to keep within their limits. Let them confine themselves to being just. We shall assume the responsibility of being happy for ourselves.”

You could sue him for trespass to land for entering your property. You could also claim that removing the tape caused the paint to peel off your car, and sue him for trespass to chattel. But it would be nicer if you would thank him. |

I have had a series of convertibles. With one of them, during a particularly long hot dry stretch of weather which is unusual for England, I sometimes forgot to close the roof of the car at night. Then we would get the thunderstorm that followed a heatwave, and in the morning I found my neighbour had covered my car with a plastic sheet.

Last winter, I almost slipped on the snow in the driveway leading up to our home. By the time we borrowed a shovel and pick, my neighbor went out in the cold and shoveled it for us.

Around 8 years ago, my (ex)neighbors threw a vociferous party way past mid-night, and my parents called the cops. The neighbors then invited the cops to join them.

A sibling of mine once ripped something off a neighbor's fence. They forgave us for it and refused to take any money.

One time my friend's momma threatened to call the cops on the neighbors throwing a loud party, and one of the guests turns to her and says, "Lady, I AM a cop".... -------------------- [/flirting]

Almost daily we get a call at home from some store or something where I left my credit card or wallet. But yesterday my wife got a call on her cell phone that someone had found my cell phone - I guess he called whatever number was on the most recent call list. I hadn't even realized I had lost my cell phone. Anyway, the guy said he had it, so I went to meet him and he gave me my cell phone. What a nice guy.

This isn't a neighbor and maybe goes in some of the other threads about whether Jews are incomparably gomlei chesed, but I thought I'd share:
When a GP refers patients to a specialist, the GP typically gets absolutely nothing in return [depending on the jurisdiction and laws] except maybe some chocolate or hockey tickets holiday time. However, if the GP's family sees the specialist, many specialists won't charge the referring GP as a courtesy. So my friend told me that he was told by his kids' orthodontist that a dentist who refers patients to the orthodontist [and this is in Parry Sound, which is northern Ontario] sent his own kid. The orthodontist didn't charge as a professional courtesy but the dentist gave the orthodontist $6,000 [the usual and customary fee] and said next time someone comes in who can't afford it, let this be their payment. A week later a hardship case came in, and the orthodontist said the fee was anonymously donated. |

Sure. Rain don't scare me. I run, bike, and walk in the rain all the time. The restaurant's around the corner from us - it's nice to walk. I actually HATE driving and avoid it as much as possible. the good ones are always married!!!! -------------------- |

As my mother would say 'it's just water, it won't make you melt'. I also hate driving and prefer walking as much as possible. -------------------- Many people wish they could change their life, when all they really need to do is change their attitude towards life. - Sharon
