Click on the About The Waterfalls button on the left side of the screen to view al the pictures. "The Waterfalls are an unbelievable sight: four cascades ranging in height from 90 to 120 feet rising out of New York Harbor, said Mayor Bloomberg. “And what a beautiful symbol of the energy and vitality that we are bringing back to our waterfront in all five boroughs. Congratulations to Olafur Eliasson, the Public Art Fund and the many City, State and Federal agencies, and partners who played a role in bringing us to this momentous occasion."” |

My understanding is that these don't look as cool in person as they do in pictures.
The Gates were better. |

My understanding is that these don't look as cool in person as they do in pictures. The Gates were better. Why such a downer? It just opened officially today. Why not at least go there first before passing judgment. I think the pictures are beautiful and I love the idea. You mean Al Gore? I "know" he invented the internet, but I didn't realize he was also a web designer. Hmm...... |

I "know" he invented the internet, Did you read the article in the latest issue of Vanity Fair? An Oral History of the Internet How the Web Was Won Fifty years ago, in response to the surprise Soviet launch of Sputnik, the U.S. military set up the Advanced Research Projects Agency. It would become the cradle of connectivity, spawning the era of Google and YouTube, of Amazon and Facebook, of the Drudge Report and the Obama campaign. Each breakthrough—network protocols, hypertext, the World Wide Web, the browser—inspired another as narrow-tied engineers, long-haired hackers, and other visionaries built the foundations for a world-changing technology. Keenan Mayo and Peter Newcomb let the people who made it happen tell the story. http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features...currentPage=all |

Maybe when it's not such a crummy day I'll go. OK QUOTE I think the metal structure looks like scaffolding. Oh wait, it's not??? I thought the pictures were of the project in construction. I didn't realize it's a completed structure. Yeah, I wasn't quite sure about that either as I didn't read all the background info. yet. |

The Gates were better. The Gates were great. I think the metal structure looks like scaffolding. What's wrong with scaffolding? I think the only problem with these is that (from the photos) they look too small. I want to see them in person. -------------------- דעלך סני לחברך לא תעביד

If any of you would actually read the site, you would see that it was done in a scaffolding style intentionally.

If any of you would actually read the site, you would see that it was done in a scaffolding style intentionally. Something intentionally ugly is still ugly. From the site: QUOTE .... chose to build from scaffolding because it is a common part of NYC's landscape and a reference to the City's continued physical transformation. That's precisely what I said above in different words. In fact, now I hate these waterfalls even more. |

The Gates were better. The Gates were more interactive....you could actually walk through them and all that...The Waterfalls look pretty awesome except it's purely an observational exhibit. But I would still love to go see it! -------------------- דעו מאביכם כי לא בוש אבוש שוב אשוב אליכם כי בא מועד
