can anyone explain to me why the kapotes of so many men don't seem to fit them properly, and come far to high up the leg, and the waist isn't in the right place?

is this the "style" or is this just because the men don't know how to size a kapote without their wife's help?

or is there some little trick to getting a properly sized kapote that you just have to know in order to get one, otherwise you'll get what looks right except it wont be right and when you put on a gartel (half a foot below the kapote waist which is another big taina. the erva isn't the only thing that you're trying to seperate from your head and heart, not that they realize that, or maybe they just don't know where their waist is) it just lookis simply rediculous?

No idea, wha'ts the difference? A man needs to go to a place to be fitted properly, and if he grows or gains or loses weight, needs to get his tailored or replaced.

I've seen this all the time with brand new kapotes though. I'm not talking about girth. People rarely gain an extra couple of inches of hight after marriage.

kapotas / prince alberts, are worn by latvian jews (that means Litvaks aka Misnagdim aka yeshivish and Chabad (go look where the town of Lubavitch is),not Chassidim!!!!
Hungarian, Russian and Polish chassidim are always dressed in nice fitting ( ok, most of us) bekeshes or tish Bekeshes also know as Es Chalats.
just look at the ads in the Hamodia once in a while for G&G or B&G clothing

Having properly fitted and tailored clothing has little to do with the specific type of garment being worn.

Yeshivish and Misnagdim/litvak are not necessarily interchangeable with Yeshivish

Yeshivish is pretty much any non-chassidic charedi

including Yekkes (and before you say What yekkes are still around, Go to washington heights ,no not the dominican side but rather "hudson heights" they have yekke yeshivish types who practice yekke minhagim including their taamim etc which is different from ostjuden)

Black-hat (MO YU types)

Misnagdim

even some of the right wing sruga (black sruga) would be yeshivish

and since when are chabad not chassidim!?! if anything they are THE Chassidim
