There is no movie discussion sub-forum here. So I figured we can post individual threads on specific movies and discuss them.
Everyone is raving about the dark knight movie, and it is collecting huge sums of cash at the box office. Yet, when I saw it, I didn't find it special at all. Just 2 and a half hours of mediocre comic book weak fantasy, with neurotic attempts by the now deceased Heath Ledger to portray a crazed joker, a mediocre (if not worse) and non-memorable acting from Christian Bale as Batman, and a plot that seemed intentionally made more complex (in any way possible for a simple no-brainer comic book story) in an attempt to give the movie at least some plot for the pop corn chewing masses to swallow. Batman's and Harvey Dent's shared love, a pretty central character in the movie, has been terribly miscast - Maggie Gyllenhaal does not look like someone who would arouse passions in either man - it is too incredulous and requires too much suspension of disbelief that leaves a bitter taste in the viewer's mind. -------------------- |

I'll read your post AFTER I watch the movie. I already know that I like the Batman idea, so I'd rather watch the movie before knowing anything about it, the less I do the better. -------------------- "Shake off all the fears and servile prejudices under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Heath Ledger's portrayal made Jack Nicholson's look like a pre-school performance. he was brilliant. i do agree, somewhat, about Christian Bale, however. overall i enjoyed the movie. -------------------- |

That's what I thought after seeing Batman Begins (haven't seen DK). Which is a shame because I think Bale is so talented. he's fine enough as Bruce Wayne. But, in a sense, he isn't the main character in this film. And that's why it's gone from ok to great. -------------------- Javol!

It's supposed to be a Batman movie with the Joker in it, not a Joker movie with Batman in it. (Actually, I didn't like Bale as Wayne either. I thought his whole performance in BB was awful and wooden.) |

Ledger definitely carries the movie. Eckhart gave a good performance as well. -------------------- |

bale was almost horrible as batman-what was with that voice- but who needs batman when the plot is that good, and the joker carries the movie? The plot is good? It's a comic book plot - designed to be appreciated by 11 year olds maybe. Honestly, the phenomenon of all these movies like Superman, Batman, Spiderman, etc. where grown adult audiences go to see some brainless comic book fantasy, has long puzzled me. I suppose it speaks of the low average intelligence level of the population. -------------------- |
