Whats the worst that can happen? You think your date says a different word than the word s/he intended? So? Once I went out with a foreign guy and at one point I literally spent five minutes trying to figure out what he was saying. It was like a game of Password or something. At other points in the date I found myself just nodding and agreeing even though I didn't have a clue as to what he was saying and it was just too much effort to keep asking him to repeat himself. |

French.
most accents lend an air of romance, mystery and intrigue if not so thick as to not understand. that would be a headache, indeed. unless, you just smiled a lot. -------------------- |

Yeah, silly me, I should have realized that! Maybe not, because you know Canadians talk just like Americans, except for "aboot." most accents lend an air of romance, mystery and intrigue if not so thick as to not understand. that would be a headache, indeed. unless, you just smiled a lot. Right. If it were casual dating it really wouldn't matter if I didn't always understand the guy. |

I sometimes hesitate to go out with non-Americans because I'm not so great at deciphering foreign accents. DiscussTM Someone recently told me I have a real New York accent. Problem is, I can't hear it. I sound normal, everyone else has an accent. (and it's aggravated by my inability to place the correct stress in the word "accent") -------------------- "If they would allow one dead soul to visit an assembly of philosophers, that would be the end of all their teachings."

We may sound like some Americans, but I can assure you that we don't sound like we're from Brooklyn. And FTR, I don't say "aboot"! Most Americans don't sound like they're from Brooklyn. Ha, right. Once I actually asked if he was legally in this country. Did he say, not yet? -------------------- "Shake off all the fears and servile prejudices under which weak minds are servilely crouched.
