How do they work out the tax that needs to be paid if we are making aliyah and want to bring in more than say, one tv's? (i.e. more than the aliyah allowance allows). When they are both obviously used. Do they just charge you tax on the cheaper one and if so, how much is it and how do they make the calculation if you do not have receipts for the items if they are old?

Thanks.

Your shipping company should include customs clearing as part of the service they provide. A professional customs clearer will declare the less "valuable" TV as the taxable one.

Taxes are ~34% of the declared value of the TV. How low a number you can put in is based on the Make, Model, and age. Once again, a professional customs clearer can help you decide what a realistic value is that will minimize the taxes but not raise a concern with Meches.
