I usually do not plan menu so far ahead. However, Im really worried about what to make so we eat enough before the fast.
Are you making a special bigger lunch? What are you planning for the final seudah? -------------------- Abba: I'm going to be up on the roof so if you hear a thump...
Nechama: Should I come running? Abba: By that point its probably too late and you should call hatzalah |

I'm not sure yet what we're going to do. We'll probably push up the timing of lunch, so we'll be able to eat Shalosh Seudos properly. My husband swears by eating lots of watermelon before a fast (specifically not really chewing the pieces), so you retain the water. He says it works for him; I find, no matter what, I'm still hungry & thirsty by the end of the day. Maybe pasta salad?

I believe it's actually better to eat less before a fast rather than fill up.
MH mentioned that he would like to put up a chulent as 'chulent keeps you fully for at least 1 day, if not more'. I don't know if I agree with the statement, but I think that's what we'll do - and then just the regular shalosh seudos food which will basically be leftovers from the first 2 meals, and do we do the egg/ashes on shabbos? I assume not, do we do it at all this year? -------------------- Many people wish they could change their life, when all they really need to do is change their attitude towards life. - Sharon

I think its most important to drink alot for the 24 hours before... Youre gonna be starving anyways. Dehydration is dangerous.

Also - no egg or ashes are used. There is NO avelus on Shabbos. See http://www.aish.com/tishaBavOverview/tisha...t_or_Sunday.asp I figured it wasn't done on Shabbos, but didn't know if maybe it was done on erev Shabbos? -------------------- Many people wish they could change their life, when all they really need to do is change their attitude towards life. - Sharon

I was only thinking about making a bigger fish course; by us it's usually just fish spread or something like a crab salad or shrim rolls. I figure I got to serve more real filling food this week..but that's as far as I got.

Let's say you can see, A hot and cold sink, Where so proudly, we wash, For netilas yadayim Whose filtered waters and bright shine, Through this mitzva'dig time, O'er our hands, we watch, Gallons of water streaming. And the hot water from here, gets filled with cold water down there, So don't turn on the hot water, or more will be boiled somewhere. Oh say does that negel vasser towel yet dry, Our cold and wet hands, and now we know the reason why! |
