Do you eat food your child prepared? What if it was prepared in a group setting? (school, camp)
Assuming you have a normal immune system. Does it matter what it is? Does it matter if the kids asks you to eat it? -------------------- Ayzeh kef lihiyot yehudi....

I would. It doesn't happen very often; it's mostly leftover scrambled eggs from DD on a Sunday.
Bird, do I assume you are referring to challah baked at camp ? -------------------- The poster formerly known as "Live-from-New-York"

Eat it regardless if it looks amazing or inedible. Whether your kid comes to you excited for you to try it or places it casually on the table without saying anything, they're keeping an eye on you. They'll know if you tried it or if you just dumped it...Trust me, they always do.

Bird, do I assume you are referring to challah baked at camp ? Actually, this weeks project in camp was shabbos takeout. Each bunk got a turn to make different foods- kugel, compote, soup, etc. And then they got containers with lables "camp ___ kids shabbos takeout. They had a great time doing it. And, yes I'm going to eat it, but in the back of my mind it grosses me out a little. I will however not let dh eat it. Palindrom, great post. :D -------------------- Ayzeh kef lihiyot yehudi....

Do you eat food your child prepared? What if it was prepared in a group setting? (school, camp) Assuming you have a normal immune system. Does it matter what it is? Does it matter if the kids asks you to eat it? Preferably, no. However, sometimes he is so excited that I take the risk and try not to think about it. I know the gross factor from having kids bake in my own kitchen, my own kids and/or their friends. Even with washing hands with soap immediately before starting, they're not clear on the finger needs to stay out of nose, ears, touching dogs, etc. in between. With my own kids, once they do that (and I notice) I make them go back and wash again. However, this is why the challah the kids shape are the challah the kids eat and they don't touch the adults food. Try not to think about it too much. Sounds like a fun idea, what age kids? -------------------- Many people wish they could change their life, when all they really need to do is change their attitude towards life. - Sharon

A couple weeks ago, my almost 3 year old came home from camp with a Shabbos dessert- looked something like rum balls sprinkled with coconut. She was sooo proud of herself, and was very happy to share with everyone. She had, her brother had, & her brave father (who has a very strong stomach) had as well. I have a pretty weak stomach, and managed to avoid it without hurting her feelings.
In general, b/c of my stomach, I wouldn't really eat anything my kids made in a non-home setting. Specifically, my home. -------------------- A Jew without good middos is simply incomplete...

My two year old brought home both fruit salad and Israeli salad. He wouldn't let anyone touch the container, And I was perfectly happy not too. I guess salad falls into a different category, challah/cookies I would not give a second thought too.

Heh! I guess I should let sonny be selfish with this. He doesn't let us come close to his 'creations'. I guess we can teach him about sharing at other times.
