"There is a stereotype that well, if they're in college, they can afford to eat," said Brickner-Wood, the food pantry director. "But there are some students who have hardly any disposable income, and because of that, the food budget suffers. They either eat really badly, or they just don't eat enough."

Broadly speaking, liberalism emphasizes individual rights and equality of opportunity. Different forms of liberalism may propose very different policies, but they are generally united by their support for a number of principles, including extensive freedom of thought and speech, limitations on the power of governments, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market or mixed economy, and a transparent system of government

i don't remember where or when i read it, but i have heard that most college students live below the poverty level.

Exist's friend's song, to the tune of The Star Spangled Banner

Let's say you can see,
A hot and cold sink,
Where so proudly, we wash,
For netilas yadayim
Whose filtered waters and bright shine,
Through this mitzva'dig time,
O'er our hands, we watch,
Gallons of water streaming.
And the hot water from here, gets filled with cold water down there,
So don't turn on the hot water, or more will be boiled somewhere.
Oh say does that negel vasser towel yet dry,
Our cold and wet hands, and now we know the reason why!

If you're paying your own way, it can be tough. No question about it. But how is this news?

Actually if your in canada tuition is like 3K-5K a year and so with food, rent and everything probaby its 15K which means if you're parents arent helping you then you have to work part time. And I wouldnt say college is the best time of your life, but the 20's probably are

part-time jobs are hard to find

Only if you live on campus or near a "college town" where there are so many students there are no part time jobs available for miles. If you live a few miles away and commute, all you have to do is apply at the nearest Target, Macys or Bed Bath and Beyond. And that's just for those who aren't bright enough to land a nicely paying part time clerical or secretarial job.

actually, all the college towns i'm familiar with have more part-time, student-geared openings than they can fill, especially right around (and often on) the campus where all the most popular bookstores, coffee shops, restaurants, and school-logo sportswear outlets are. the tough job market is for adult "townies" seeking full-time employment with wage levels and benefits that would enable them to provide for their families. hence (in part) the frequently referenced "town/gown divide."

I think someone needs to apply for a grant to study the problem and then publish their findings in a peer-reviewed journal.
