We've done it all these years already: said eichah, are fasting, reading stuff relevant to the day, possibly going to see the CCHF presentation etc.

Entertaining my daughter?
Seriously, it does kind of change things when you have to worry about a kid besides for yourself. Can't just stay in a dark room resting all day. -------------------- www.adiel.com Sukkos fun!

i've been to shul on tisha b'av maybe twice. I go at night to hear eicha. Been doing that for a few years. -------------------- "Mommy, is this the house where we are allowed to swing on the chairs, or the house where we're not allowed to swing on the chairs?"

the fast starts late. i always go to bed. Really? I never missed Eicha until this year. It was weird to read it all alone, just like the first posuk of eicha. But I read rashi and the English and I think it was more meaningful than hearing it leined in shul. Bigtoe, I guess that's something else I did different this year. -------------------- www.adiel.com Sukkos fun!

As kids we go to shul. But once the first baby comes along, there is no mitzva in going to shul and being busy taking care of the noisemakers.

I bought that Artscroll Kinos, and much like pathway to prayer changed my high holy days, it made a huge difference in my understanding of the day.

I'm not medically allowed to fast anymore so I understand that it would be an avarah for me to do so...but it just doesn't feel right...

I was helping someone overcome an issue...
I also paid attention to the words of Eicha, and finally understood what it was saying. And I actually cried a bit, which is rare for me. I never cry. Chas ve'shalom to even think of it. -------------------- על כל אחד ואחת להוסיף בתורה ובמצוות כדי להכריע את עצמו ואת כל העולם כולו לכף זכות!
