Does anyone have an Epson Stylus CX3810 printer? That is the printer I have, and I am having a lot of difficulty replacing one of the ink cartridges. All the cartridges ran out, but they are expensive so I am only replacing the black ink. There is a button I am supposed to press to charge the new ink cartridge, but it isn't working and I can't use the printer even though it has a brand new black ink cartridge in it. Help!! Anyone have any trouble shooting ideas?? (I already went onto their website, their directions aren't working and the customer support has very limited hours and I really need to print some things out tonight).

Haven't used Epsons in a while, but try this:
-Does the row of buttons on the face of your printer have one with a 'droplet' (or '3 droplets')? Try pressing that. -Try turning it off, wait a min. then turn back on. -Open your printer dialogue box (right click> properties>advanced I assume..not sure, you're on a pc?) and see what the options have to say. -While printer software is open go to that help menu (not just the ones online). -If this 'charger button' thing has a unique Epson name, try googling just that. -Google 'Epson Stylus CX3810 printer problems' and 'Epson Stylus CX3810 printer troubleshooting' iirc, most new printers will not print if [even] one cartridge isn't there. So keep the empty ones in anyway. -------------------- "Life is a combination of magic and pasta." -Federico Fellini |

So I finally spoke with Epson, they said that the printer wouldn't work because all of the ink cartridges are empty and it will not work to only replace the black ink, I need to replace all of the inks, even if I am only printing in black and white. When I told them that I couldn't afford to replace all of the ink cartridges because their brand is really expensive, they actually offered to send me as a one time courtesy two free inks (I still need to buy one more color though)!! What a nice surprise from calling a customer support number! If I actually get these, I will forever more be impressed by customer support at Epson!

That's what happens when you buy the C, M, Y, and K ink printers. Just get a printer with two cartridges next time. -------------------- "Life is a combination of magic and pasta." -Federico Fellini |
