We're looking to add another MODERATOR to the Hashkafah.com team! At this time we'll be accepting nominations to select a member who meets the following minimal criteria:
- TIME to moderate the boards. - member is in GOOD STANDING with the mods - member can demonstrate to the mods that they can be IMPARTIAL and OBJECTIVE to members and posts (done via a few conversations). - member is willing to lose anonymity with mod team (and has to MEET me). It's a trust thing. plus skills + has previous BOARD EXPERIENCE Anyone can nominate anyone. If a member wishes to nominate themselves, just write 'myself' in your post. The mods and I will go through the nominations and select 2 appropriate candidates for members to VOTE for. Mod election date will be announced once we've selected a proper date and time. -------------------- Hashkafah.com: Think for Yourself™

I vote against this popularity contest, especially with an "open" ballot and public nominations........

The meeting thing limits potential nominees to a very specific locale, doesn't it?

Mod election date will be announced once we've selected a proper date and time. since the membership gets to vote for the new mod, do the current ones get to remove their masks so we know who they are as well? and it seems to me, in regards to the above criteria, we won't be getting who we feel is the best candidate but a watered-down version of who the moderators feel will agree with them. off the top of my head (but i'm certain i'll revisit) melech Torn short Bluelaptop Jeanette p almonius Moshi Razi -------------------- Are you a good witch or a bad witch? |

Well the requirements pretty much eliminate almost everyone, except maybe the one or two that you probably already have in mind for the position. So why not go ahead and ask them directly if they want to be mods?
The personal interview requirement, especially, basically eliminates anyone not in the NY area who isn't motivated enough to fly in for an interview. Oh and these are only MINIMAL criteria. |

Well yeah, the admins will first effectively choose the mod (by filtering the nominated list to two), and then give the rest of the board the illusion of choosing by voting on one of them. -------------------- |

I think part of the criteria should include how upstanding the member is. Its easy for a mod to get power hungry and use their position to get information about others. (No Im not talking about any existing mods, just a thought)
Anyways, Short, Jeanette, Shaya G.(the latter being the most awesome option) |

I'd like to nominate myself and melech. I take your quoting of my post as tacit agreement that I would make an excellent moderator, and a seconding of my motion. -------------------- |

Melech would never do this, and I think he is too bitter already. Also I think if Melech was a mod I wouldnt like that he is now part of a clique. I Like that he isnt afraid not to toe the party line. A mod has to be respectful to a fault at times of the party leader.

I thought discussing board members was frowned upon?

We're looking to add another MODERATOR to the Hashkafah.com team! At this time we'll be accepting nominations to select a member who meets the following minimal criteria:...
