Pomegranate.

Who can go and report back for me?

"It's not your regular schlocky store."

Talk about your ringing endorsements.

Interesting, by the way, the store name. It's an "in" food these days. Didn't some fancy restaurant open in Silver Spring with the same name? And there's that whole pomegranate juice fad.

Me too. It looks schmancy. I'd shlep things back on the train if they have gourmet kosher delights.

um..not. Whole Foods sells natural gourmet products. and because of the economy, have lowered prices (there's an article somewhere out there if you're curious- via Forbes maybe?).

Though props to Pomegranate, when I was there a few months back the signage definitely impressed, it makes you want to go in and check it out.

It's not like there's a dearth of people who can afford to shop like this in Brooklyn.

There is definitely a market for high end kosher. Have you been to the Orchard?

Right.

This is a neighborhood of families, and just about none of them can afford the place. It is also not nearly as big as the article makes it sound, Its not even 1/2 a block of Coney Island...

*most* people consider Glatt mart to be outrageously overpriced, at 11.99 a lb for steak, 23.99 a lb, is beyond nuts.

Brooklyn is bigger than just that area of Coney..and if the houses there have anything to say for themselves (not to mentioned the kids I went to school with that didn't blink an eye at dropping 2.5k every weekend at Bergdorf's), this shopping should be affordable.

GM is overpiced (not to mentioned cramped and smelly). But they took advantage of the fact that there weren't that many other places to get meat in the area. Till Moishe's and others came along..

Unfortunately the closest one is over ten miles away so it doesn't look like I'll be visiting one soon. I'll have to stick to Mrs. Greens and Back To Earth for now.
