Is it normal for a child to make a g sound when trying to pronounce the letter d?

I've heard it with quite a few yiddish speaking children who for example say "Ich bin dergangen zi ... derhat ... " etc. instead of gergangen and gerhat.

What does that mean?

Thanks. I guess it helps. I guess I never heard it so find it quite odd.
