can we just bury the hatchet already? To the of the derech's we know that you hate judaism and everything it stands for, but we don't have to hear (or read) the useless ad hominims.

ad homins flurish mostly in people who don't have anything good to say anyway.

so can we drop all the acidity and hatred already? we have enough problems elsewhere without turning on each other. can't we all just be friends?

all the put-downs and hurtful comments and just plain not-niceness? when a thread turns hot and people make some not-so-nice comments I can understand, but do we have to be using put-downs and hurtful comments and outright insults and all kinds of adhominims even in opening posts?

can't we just give each other at least a modicrum of respect? all of us. please! please?

Actually I've seen somewhat less of this very recently.

Which comments do you have in mind?

You consider that an ad hominem attack?

RebP thats why you posted it and you know it. You're posting in order to spread your hatred and abuse everywhere it can reach, and quite frankly I'm sick of it.

you're angry. Get over it.

I wish I could make whatever made you so angry better, but you really don't need to be posting hateful comments all over the place. you know good and well that you posted that in order to call all the religious people here ignorant, and you aught to be ashamed of yourself because you know good and well it wasn't nice.

Nobody seemed to think this was an ad hominem attack http://www.hashkafah.com/Islam-victim-t514...amp;hl=Islam%5C

I think he's being over-sensitive. Things aren't that bad.

After seeing his example of what he considers to be a personal attack I agree.

reb P, the problem is you, and a number of other people are posting things with the explicit purpose of offending people. you are also trying to drive people off the derech to join you, and both are unnacceptable.

but you're just the tip of the iceberg. there has been alot of invective throwing recently and we really need to stop.

we need to stop trying to offend each other, stop trying to hurt each other.

I beg to differ. I did not post that for the explicit purpose of offending people. I can't help it if people are offended by the truth.

What's so unacceptable about that?

I wasn't offended by that. The guy speaks well and makes some good points in the few videos I've seen that were posted here. Just because I don't agree with his view on religion, it doesn't mean that I consider the posting of that video an attack on my beliefs. Also, try watching from about 3:00 to 3:25. He makes a distinction, even though the end result is still that he hates all religion.

Well, for one thing, if people are so adamant about others not forcing their religions down anyone else's throats, perhaps you shouldn't try to force your views either, or try to convince anyone else to follow your path.

I agree. You're taking things way too personally. (Even while you're the one that is actually attacking people's supposed lack of intelligence or whatnot.)
