Can we know the rules?
mosheshmeal . Had the moderation team actually put some serious thought into the process rather than going off half cocked resulting in the recent train wreck, I'm sure they would have had answers to many of the questions we all have. melech . |

I'm betting that Silent J distributes 4x6 postcards, each with a randomly generated unique code number, and members must write their vote in blue or black ink and validate with a thumb print in the presence of a notary public, and then mail to a specially set up PO box. [/sudafed brain]

We had some rules set up about which members would be considered by the mods. But members were free to nominate who they wish to be mod.
Our plans were to discuss the list of nominees and create a time-based poll for the first round of voting. Top six nominees get to make it to the finals and the one with the most votes wins! Not much I will do about multiple SN's voting at this time, But I'll be sure not to approve any new memberships until the elections are over. That'll probably be a week. I apologize for not being clear about the process. -------------------- Hashkafah.com: Think for Yourself™

Why are you only adding one new mod? That barely brings you up to staffing levels of June 20.
Secondly, the moderation team complain they don't have time to do this that or the other [such as feedback to those who take the time and make the effort to report a post], so why not boost the help? Thirdly, one mod will more likely get co-opted into the current mod culture than would a larger influx of new perspectives. |

Additionally, since the tzibbur is contributing in some way to the selection, does that mean the tzibbur has the right to know the identity of she or he whom the tzibbur collectively selected?

Thirdly, one mod will more likely get co-opted into the current mod culture than would a larger influx of new perspectives. Good question. I think that by making this popularity contest, we can show members how even a mod that they voted for will fall prey to their demands. Having more than one mod would defeat the my intent and might actually cause some organization and trust which is what I'm trying to destroy. Really, We're looking to possibly expand on some existing options and have an opening for one mod at this time. -------------------- Hashkafah.com: Think for Yourself™

Really, We're looking to possibly expand on some existing options and have an opening for one mod at this time. So it's possible that the five who are eliminated, all of whom are necessarily "trusted" by yours truly [whatever that means], and all of whom would be qualified and willing and able to take on the very demanding responsibilities and time commitments, may still be able to become mods at a later [undetermined and vague] date? In other words, losing the election would not necessarily be the end of the line for the five? |

In other words, losing the election would not necessarily be the end of the line for the five? Losing the election would not be the end for the candidates. We would HIGHLY consider them for new positions. Additionally, since the tzibbur is contributing in some way to the selection, does that mean the tzibbur has the right to know the identity of she or he whom the tzibbur collectively selected? I don't think we'll be requiring them to sign on with a new MOD NAME. So you'll know them as you always have. -------------------- Hashkafah.com: Think for Yourself™

Why cant mods have specific times/days that they work? Kind of like splitting up the work?
