That's funny, huh ? OVER tisha B'av or did you overeat afterwards? I can't see how that's possible unless you stuffed yourself before and after. I well believe people don't lose an ounce fasting, except water which is quickly replaced, but they also throw caution to the wind before and after the fast. -------------------- "Mommy, is this the house where we are allowed to swing on the chairs, or the house where we're not allowed to swing on the chairs?"

No, there is scientific evidence that the body will activate protein production pathways in response to an acute shortage of nutrients within a small time period.

The way my coworker explains it, you are really only skipping Breakfat and Lunch on a fast day, and you aren't exercising that day (and in this case, not the day before either).
For me, that means i missed out on 1 1/2 hour of cardio, and missed out on a coffee, a small fat free yogurt, and a pile of spinach leaves with fat free dressing (and possibley a few other raw veggies, and whole wheat pita, depending on the day). Whatever "extra" I ate on Shabbos and after the fast was obviously more than that - although I was so careful not to eat a LOT more than than I usually would ... and it metabolized to 3 1/2 lbs. It could have been major water weight, but who knows ...... -------------------- The poster formerly known as "Live-from-New-York"

Maybe God is arranging that your reward for mitzvah observance not be in This World. For your own good.

Ye, it has to have been because it takes about 2500 calories to gain a pound and I can't believe you ate 1825 calories more than you needed just breaking your fast. -------------------- "Underworld Plaza...Lingerie Shop...I love the names of these chassidish underwear stores. Ok, the real reason is that a person's weight fluctuates approximately +/- 5 pounds throughout the day. (Water content, etc.)

I've done that even without the extra eating before and after.
but weight yourself the day afterwards, often I found that i lost more weight on the day after than on the fast day its self. the reason for that being that on the fast day you weren't missing that much in the relevant portions of your anatomy. on the day after you have a big empty space in your intestines that isn't giving you nutrients which means that you're loosing them when you do stuff. which is why fasting two days is so horrificaly different than fasting just one. -------------------- "well has beruria spoken"
