Hi Everyone!

On Wednesday morning, August 13, 2008, I was at Ben-Gurion airport to
greet the new olim that made aliyah from North America to Israel.

There were 235 olim on the flight including 63 singles (including
43 joining the IDF) and 36 families with 93 children.

The youngest oleh in the group is 5 months old and the oldest oleh
is 96 years old. The flight also included 2 dogs and 3 cats.

I took 356 pictures of the exciting event and I posted them online at:
http://www.jr.co.il/pictures/israel/history/2008/a343.htm

When the first page appears, press the F11 key to view the
full length of the pictures. To move from page to page, use the
navigation buttons on the bottom of the screen.

May the aliyah from all over of the world grow and bring
more Jews back to their homeland, Eretz Yisrael.

Have a good day,
Jacob

The h.com member is on another flight from Toronto coming in tomorrow. (Sorry, no major ceremony.)

Ypur's truly, on the other hand, was there, but once again manged to avoid the cameras (miraculously considering how many there are) with one close call.

In photo 4984, Jacob captured a photo of my camera in the background, but not me. smile.gif

There are a number of ideas that literally form the backbone of Judaism. Without knowledge of these ideas, it is virtually impossible to know how Judaism came to be as it is today, or how it functions. Unfortunately, however, the more important the idea, the less the average person knows about it. - Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan, Handbook of Jewish Thought

Something to do with the army I think.

Yes, 43 of the olim are going into the army.
The shirt says:
Olim AL Madim

Olim: people making aliyah
AL: on
Madim: is an army uniform

Play on words.
In essence they are making aliyah into the army.

Have a good night,
Jacob at 4:30 am Israel time
