Is the name itself needlessly separatist? Why does Barack Obama have a link to them on his page?

Isn't BlackPlanet a social networking site? I assume he has MySpace and/or Facebook presence as well (firewalls at work wouldn't let me check). IMHO, this is just positioning himself to reach a large community of potential voters.

He also has a link to AsianAve, MiGente (hispanics), and GLEE (gays/lesbians/etc). I think we can probably safely assume he is not an asian-hispanic lesbian, and that he's merely adding himself to social networking sites in order to expand his potential voter base.

There is are very blatent hypocritical ideas in this world.
Most will accept an organization for just blacks, just hispanics, just christians, just female & just Jews, etc. There is even an organization that is only for blacks in law enforcement. BUT the minute there is a group for just whites or just men, people scream "racism/sexism". This including obama's own campaign people who, when he lost Pennsylvania to Hillary, actually said, "Anyone who didn't vote for obama is racist."
