Anyone know if you can get free wireless in Israel? Not a router; that I have. A wireless network connection so that I don't have to find a hotspot.

I have found that the averare Israeli hasn't yet cottoned on to securing his network so you should find someone's wireless to piggyback onto, if that's what you were asking. It might be only in one room perched in one position that will give you a h*ll of a backache after a while, but you'll find it.

I know...I wanted to know if there was a such thing as getting my own connection for free. I know it exists in America, but what about here?
Thanks, though... -------------------- על כל אחד ואחת להוסיף בתורה ובמצוות כדי להכריע את עצמו ואת כל העולם כולו לכף זכות!

How would you get your own connection for free? There are many spots around Jreusalem where the city provides free wireless. In town, in tachana etc you can hook up for free. I don't know why you would get your own for free though.

I would want my own so that if I'm in a place where there is none, I can still access the internet. I don't know if my college has a secured connection; if it does, then I won't be able to access it.

Coincidentally (if there is such a thing as coincidence) I came across an article on the halachic aspects involved in using someone else's unsecured wireless network today. Oh I'm sure it's halachically problematical (not that the link worked, but I can guess what it said). I suppose to be completely above board, you'd want to knock on said neighbor's door and ask permission to use it. For a while when my net was down I used my cousin/neighbor's with his full reshus. ETA: found the article...good old Harve! -------------------- "Mommy, is this the house where we are allowed to swing on the chairs, or the house where we're not allowed to swing on the chairs?"

I've not heard of a free service in Israel. I guess you might just have to pay for it. -------------------- "Mommy, is this the house where we are allowed to swing on the chairs, or the house where we're not allowed to swing on the chairs?"
