In order to keep conversations flowing smoothly, please make sure to quote only the relevant text to which you are referring.
You don't need to quote the post right before yours. It takes up a lot of screenspace and interrupts the discussion. If your post contains excess quoted text it will be edited. Related topic: How to Quote Multiple Posts -------------------- Has the world started spinning in the other direction?

If there are multiple nested quotes - be very careful. The key is ALWAYS make sure when you delete an open tag you delete the corresponding close tag. A good tip is to count the open and close tags after you finish editing - if they are not equal you goofed... QUOTE (youngwifeandmum @ Dec 14 2004, 03:00 PM)

Let's start with an easy example.
Before: This code: CODE

And how do I take out parts of the quotes I don't need in a long post? <snip> Can you give me an example? Thank you
Just delete what you don't want. If there are multiple nested quotes - be very careful. The key is ALWAYS make sure when you delete an open tag you delete the corresponding close tag. I'd like to see the same example as you showed before. Can you? Now I will delete all the inner quotes - leaving just your last question. I will work my way inside out matching up open with close tags as I edit the post. In this case my "Pinchas" quote includes all the inner quotes - so just delete the whole thing... and voilą...
