QUOTE (Mindy @ Aug 6 2003, 11:28 AM) But I'll deff. be online IYH, it makes the day fly by. Thank G-d for online on Tisha B'av! Mindy, I don't mean to criticize you. But the purpose of Tisha B'Av is NOT to make the "day fly by". We are supposed to spend the day thinking about what caused this golus and what we can do to improve to bring Moshiach soon. Spending the day online does not bring us closer to that goal. In addition, it is questionable whether spending time online can be considered fun, and we should not be spending the day doing recreational activities. Online activities, while not assur after chatzos, are just not in the spirit of the day. I will NOT be online. |

Online activities, while not assur after chatzos, are just not in the spirit of the day. I agree. It says in Yeshaya (perek 58, pasuk 3): "Lama tzamnu velo raita eininu nafsheinu velo teda hen byom tzomchem timtzeu chefetz vkol atzveichem tingoshu" (We should get some Hebrew here). Meaning: Why did we fast and You (Hashem) didn't see we afflicted our souls and you didn't know...Because the day on the day of the fast you found your desired (meaning you found the people who owe you money in shul and bothered them about it...) While it's not assur, it's not in the spirit of the day. Well said. -------------------- Has the world started spinning in the other direction?
