[So you can't add polls in Halacha
What do you do if there's no washing cup around? Use a mug, drinking glass, plastic disposable, collapsible pill cup, move your hands under the faucet to mimic washing with a cup? -------------------- The day will come when I will be able to properly and fully express myself in my sig. Today is a sad day. |

Anything that's a cup (it can stand on its own, is complete, holds water, no spout etc) is perfectly fine. It doesn't have to be a designated washing cup. That said, a collapsible pill cup may be problematic if water leaks out - there are rules about that. As for moving your hands under the faucet, what's usually recommended in extreme circumstances is to turn the faucet on and off rather than moving your hand in and out of the stream. |

If you have a cup with handles (non disposable) use it. If you have no cup then turn on the faucet for a second as if its being poured, since its considered your 'pouring' since it was a result of your direct action that caused the water to flow (unlike running a faucet for a while) If youre at a lake or other body of water (swimming pool? toilet?) then just dunk your hands.

It was a big deal to Chazal who said that being mezalzel in netilas yadayim is a "segulah" for being poor. Is that what they said? ETA: Yes, I looked it up, Gabbe, you are correct. ETA: Although in all fairness she said if it's "big enough to hold so much water", which is the point. -------------------- .כלל הדבר, כי ראוי שיהיה השכל בן חורין -מהר"ל בחיד"א

If you have a cup with handles (non disposable) use it. What if you have a regular washing cup and one of the handles broke off? Is there any "use" to it that's special or should I just throw it out? -------------------- Many people wish they could change their life, when all they really need to do is change their attitude towards life. - Sharon
