So i discovered this website a little over a month ago and I'm LOVING it. Where else can you find a group of knowledgeable, intelligent, religious people ready to participate in a discussion any time of day or night! Don't know where I've been the past couple of years, but I'm definitely here for the staying.
As a newbie, I am curious about the origins of the webiste. If someone can answer the following questions, that would be great.
1) When was Hashkafa.com officially launched?
2) Who's brainstorm was it? And what made him/her/them think of it?
3) Who were the first couple of members?
4) Who is currently sponsoring / funding the website?
5) Can we get a general picture of what hashkafa.com looked like when it first began?
If the answers are elsewhere, feel free to send me the link where I can find it.

1) It was launched on January 21, 2003 and started with my membership.
2) My idea. I had bought the domain YEARS before launching it. I did it because i was facinated by other types of Yiddishkeit and couldnt find any other medium for communities and indivituals to communicate. There ARE chat rooms, but those conversations are too fluid and it's hard to keep records of who said what. Using a discussion board such as this one, I found that people can ask their questions anonymously and records can be kept for other member who enjoy reading or doing research on a particular subject.
3) The first 50-100 members were individuals who read www.adiel.com (which was popular before blogging became the 'in' thing). Thanks to Mindy and her gang, all those members made their way here and ....
4) Money comes from the RBS"O (via my pockets).
5) It looked the same. just fewer members and fewer posts.
