Shalom,

Let me introduce myself to those of you who haven’t met me before. My name is Pinchas and I’m a volunteer with Kumah.org, an organization dedicated to encouraging Aliyah. I’ve also been a longtime member of Hashkafah.com and enjoy the atmosphere here along with the friendly crowd of course! You'll find the layout of this forum is conducive to constructive conversations and great friendships! Hashkafah.com, with well over 2000 registered members and thousands of more “guests” that visit each day has got to be among the largest and most successful forums of its kind dedicated to all the important Anglo-Jewish topics (and some very very non-important but fun topics) that are discussed here.

With that in mind I asked the founder of Hashkafah.com if he could create this Making Aliyah subforum found under the Eretz Yisrael forum in honor of Yom Haatzmaut. I don’t know if he’ll let me post his real first name here (please let me know Silent J) but I want to publicly thank him for all the hard work he does in keeping Hashkafah.com running smoothly and for creating this spot for us olim and future olim to schmooze about Aliyah. (Another way to thank him is by clicking on that “donate” button at the bottom of the screen. :) )

Now a word about the rules of this place. Naturally all the rules that apply to the general Hashkafah.com community as a whole apply here as well. Please review the guidelines found by clicking here and please follow the rules. It will make posting on and reading from these forums better for all of us. Silent J has asked me to help moderate this area and I told him it would be my pleasure. Feel free to post your opinions and advice and we will try to moderate this as little as possible. But know that personal insults or posts that violate the guidelines won’t be tolerated.

With that in mind feel free to post about anything related to Aliyah… whether is be a question about where to find a washing machine repair man in Kfar Saba or news about a Yom Haatzmaut trip to the Negev or a Divar Torah about living in Eretz Yisrael. Future olim are encouraged to ask current olim all about our experiences making Aliyah. Questions like who did you use to bring a lift? Or posts about the infamous water filters vs. bottled water debate. Even ask questions about dating life in the Holyland. And remember, we have a lighter side as well. Share a story about something that happened today that made you proud to be an oleh living in our special country or share a joke that you know we will all appreciate. And if you have to vent – vent! We are olim too we understand! ;)

Most importantly – enjoy the ride!

Kol Tuv,
-Pinchas

p.s. If you have any questions or need anything just holler! :D

Pinchas is right - micha

For the record, IRL he is a really nice guy! - HappyDuck, Z"L
