Oh! and this reminds me about a question you asked recently where I told you I don't know how to lein. The other night my husband was putting the kinderlach to bed and saying shema with them (usually if he does it, it's because I'm not around but I don't remember why he was doing it even though I was home) and he does say it as if he's leining it. I never knew that, thanks for having me notice

There's an inyan to say keri'at shema (and other torah passages such as birkat kohanim) with the ta'amim as if one is leining. Since the ta'amim are like punctutation, it makes the recital more correct. Other poskim don't demand it because for some it actually makes it harder to focus on the meanings of the words. Depends whom you ask.

Al pi halachah? I don't know. But this siman is talking about how to recite keriat shema when naked in bed with someone else.

My Tur shows that there may have been a typo at the very start of the siman, does yours have that as well?

No. But I looked at the Big Red Tur in shul and saw it. Not a big deal, in my opinion. In any event, I think it only impacts the view that there is no requirement for the heart not to see the ervah, which we don't hold by anyway.

In Hilchos Tzitzis it clearly says one should have a head covering. The BY talks about two head coverings (which reminds me I was supposed to look at it for the thread about hats, hopefully tommorow)

Of course you need to have a head covering. I'm not disputing that. And yes, the BY talks about two head coverings when one is wearing a tallit. I'm not disputing that either. What I am disputing is whether the Mechaber (or anybody else prior to the emergence of the chassidic movement) codifies a need for two head coverings.

It might be obvious to you, but I suspect it's less obvious to those on h.com who insist on full regalia for Ha-mapil or who question those who recite keriat shema or berachot in pajamas.

I guess I missed those threads, I do know people who are makpid to say Krias Shma before they leave Bais Medrish to go to sleep, but I'm not sure if they said HaMapil then as well.

That is a Chabad Shtick, and I don't think anyone thinks it is REQUIRED al pi halacha, it is just showing extra kavod for the mitzvah.........
