I don't think anyone, not the three females nor the one male who voted nay, said anything about hating.

It's slang. I'm trying to be cool.

Nebby can be used to describe a person as well. It might be the thumb sucking, loud breathing girl who sits and curls her hair while the rest are playing ball.

Interesting, thanks. And yes, MO are all about the pleats these days, esp. slinky w/accordion pleats.

And for the record, I don't think slips are nebby. It turns out I probably don't know what nebby is, and never will. I'm not even sure how we got on slips, if I recall I was wondering if younger women wore slips-- and apparently the skirt-wearing experts have it, slips are a necessity in many cases.

My poor SO still thinks that a Batya is a what, and not a who.

Sorry. That's probably largely my fault.
But if we go back to post #29, I tried to suggest nebby = dorky = unfashionable.

Hey, no worries, this is my longest thread ever! :yahoo:

Don't you think it looks messy to wear an untucked shirt? Shirt-tails are by definition 'tails' and meant to be tucked in.

I think you probably didn't notice the "t" in front of "shirts." (I tend to not hyphenate the word tshirt.)

Eh, I was young and naive then. I'll never change my avatar though, or I wouldn't recognize my own posts.

Has that changed in the last few years?

I don't see much slinky anymore, or pleats. Pencil.
