isn't the h.com font verdana or something?

and they should all be spelled the same. When I was going through the recipes, I couldn't believe how many ways there are to spell those.

Yes. And capitalization although that would take a hell of a long time.

What about the directions? Should they be reworded?

What about C. vs. cup/Cup, half vs. 1/2, Tbsp vs. tablespoon/Tablespoon, etc.? I feel strongly that everything should be uniform but it's a tremendous and very tedious job.

I think we all need to use Word 2003 and save as *.doc and NOT as *.docx since not everyone has the new version of Word and won't be able to read the new version.

I'll email you one page. See if the style is compatible. It automatically formats the whole document and takes a huge chunk of work off your hands.

Not if they're clear. Only re-word if very unclear.
C. = cup is easy with Find/Replace
same with Tbsp ->Tablespoon

Personally, when looking at a cookbook, I like whole word spelled out but as long as it's clear, not a big deal.

ok, verdana for text.

what about titles?

should the authors be different? in red or something? or should we avoid color other than the pictures for those who want to print black and white?

way too much work. we're not selling this. I think having character rather than uniformity is good.

Titles - I gave some options above
No color - no one wants to waste color ink and it doesn't really enhance it - the only benefit of color is if someone wants to print the photos.

Do name in italics or bold of verdana or just a tad different font so it's clear.

Not selling, but hopefully benefiting and we want to make it as beneficial as possible, imo.

I disagree but then again these things are a particular annoyance to me so whatever the majority prefers...

Not everyone has Microsoft either.
How about Open Office? :drinks:

One can always buy those sheet protectors when placing in a binder if we don't do postcard size.

A word about the Index at the back:

The way it works in Microsoft Word is you highlight the word, and then press <shift><alt><x> and then <mark> and <close>.

The titles and the authors are all indexed like that.

So if someone is adding an author, let's say Lyric,
then you have to highlight it, and then press <shift><alt><x> and then <mark> and <close>.

When the Index is updated, it'll register.

Thanks.

Keep in mind my perspective - I'm looking at this organizationally, but not as a cook. I don't cook, and I have zero interest in cooking, so all these things like not wanting to turn pages with messy hands are not anything I would think about.

So am I but perhaps I'm a bit more extreme. If one word hasn't been italicized like the rest, it'll bug the hell out of me.

Print double sided :) Or stick 'em back to back.

How big were the binders.?

They make really big ones. I have huge binders with calculus problems I saved for my sisters, 2 to a page, and year's worth of those packets (cal 1 and 2)...three binders altogether, so they probably fit something like 500 pages each.

as usual, I'm the idiot - I keep clicking on the file name, and didn't see the HUGE download banner. :)

I'm at 30% right now and really have a ton of other stuff I need to do before I leave.

Nice!

I can do some editing. Should I take breads/appetizers/dairy?

(Is there a deadline?)
