Does he smoke on school grounds? That would be a no, if that were the case.

My point being that if you adopt a policy of not allowing your kids to go to a school where the principal/Rosh Yeshiva smokes, you would be eliminating quite a prestigious group of talmedi chachamim and Torah educators.....

ETA: Pinchas, and KDD,
It is a fact that there's a lot of hype and bias involved in anti-tobacco "studies". If you want to play it safe by not smoking that's great. If you want to educate your kids not to smoke to stay on the safe side that's great too. If you decide not to send your kids to a good school for the sole reason that the menahel is a smoker I'd say you're biased and mistaken, but they're your kids and it's your money so it's your prerogative. But to judge people so severely on the basis of highly controversial semi-science is just plain wrong.

Sure. That way, when the principal dies, my kids will have learned a valuable lesson about the dangers of smoking.

Here we go. The smoker's lung is black because of cancer. A non-smoker with lung cancer will also have a black lung. The non-smoker's lung isn't black becuase it doesn't have cancer. Any smoker that doesn't have cancer has a lung that looks like that. There is no mechanism that blackens a lung other than cancer. None.
Most smokers don't get lung cancer, and there's plenty of non-smokers who get lung cancer.
