Not really. "Nègre" wasn't an insult originally. It developed into one, though.

There are other words which were, indeed, only invented to disparage an entire race.

Then again regardless of our RL social settings using a derogatory term for non-Jews is something we should avoid for the sake of derech eretz.

Actually, most didn't consider themselves angry, hateful or violent. They were merely living according to their system of belief and how they were raised. It was also Christians, I might add, who admonished and abolished slavery. The point being that despite how one is raised, there comes a time when (due to evolution of definition or whatever) that someone realizes what used to be acceptable is now unacceptable. That being said, I still think the issue is how a person personally opts to utilize a term that is considered offensive, other than weighing it against what they think or how it affects another person.

It's because of the history, and you referring to me as one personally (as I have stated). That's it. There is no other issue. It's like The Lone Ranger calling Tonto something, and Tonto believing it was cool, then finding out it was derogatory years or months later. There is a thread to verify that, which is why I referenced it. And, as I've also said, we did discuss it privately, which is why we remained friends (though haven't talked in a few months?). It simply shocked me to see you use the phrase again. Period. I am not attempting to humiliate you or accused you of saying anything negative about me to anyone. (I have no idea where that is coming from other than your imagination blowing up. There is no ###### to cut.)

Yes, I did use it, albeit with comedic effect (which is a lame excuse). Won't use it again.
