This is news? How is this different than what happens routinely at Partnership Minyan/Shirah Chadashah-type synagogues?

we knew that as soon as he had to upgrade from maharat to rabbah when the earlier title wasn't getting enough play in the media...

Perhaps there's nothing we can do to Shirah Chadashah because it meets in a community center and belongs to no synagogue organizations, and doesn't have a rabbi so there's no one to expel from a rabbinical organization, and perhaps the same is true about many other similar houses of worship of ill-repute, HIR could be expelled from the OU (their site says "Hebrew Institute of Riverdale is a proud member of the Orthodox Union") and R. Weiss could be expelled from the RCA. Or, someone sent out a press release.
If not now, when? Because I have lunch plans.

KOE in Manhattan already has done this when they have had Friday evening davening. Rabbi Weiss isn't the first to push the envelope on women's issues in halacha. For the record, KOE appears to be dying now.

well, I bet others take action against the woman who leads davening before they take action action R. Weiss, the way there was a call to put Ms Hurwitz in effective cherem but not R. Weiss in the holy communities of the Five Towns where they really have what to cry about on tisha be'av.

I have watched Avi Weiss's antics for probably close to a quarter of a century. He is a clown of epic proportions. Some people delight in being a pain in the tuchas and he's one of them. Someone needs to empty a bedpan on his head.
