That's weird. So they wear a dress that barely covers their rear and then this skirt ALSO?

The dress is often just a few inches too short, not necessarily mid-thigh.

I'm not sure what you mean.

Like wearing a polo shirt not buttoned up to the throat with a shell underneath to cover the open V area on the chest.

How is it more weird that wearing a dress that barely covers their breasts and upper arms and then a shell or other shirt also?

Who said that looks normal?

A dress worn like a jumper looks more normal to me -- e.g. just sleeveless.
But not a deep V and backless and a tight shell that doesn't quite match to cover up 65% of the upper body that the dress doesn't.

The dress is often just a few inches too short, not necessarily mid-thigh.

Right. It depends. When sitting, though, it rides up to that point, though....part of the issue is because the dresses themselves are fitted, so when sitting they ride up instead of draping down. Same thing happens with straight skirts....But to wear a loose dress over this would be even more ridiculous, IMO.

Yes, it is difficult. I've tried on SO many dresses this season that don't cover my knees and it's really annoying. I can see why people do it if it's becoming so acceptable within the frum circles. I just keep reminding myself how silly it looks.

So stop trying them on. There's tons of clothes out there.

It's a little ridiculous, but not as bad as most.

lol, I also read skirt smells.

I have what I have seen called an extender slip. Basically the bottom of it is a fabric meant to be seen under skirts. I do add it under skirts that might be just a tad too short. Sort of like a white ruffle peeking out from the bottom. I have 2 skirts I ought here that also have a bottom layer longer thanthe top and I think of it as sort of an Israeli "look".

Sort of like this picture

Yeah, that's pretty, and rather what I was imagining when I read the OP.

That looks like a ruffle on a skirt. Fine with me.
