I've seen it, and if it's done properly, it looks fine to me. Or maybe I'm just used to it. I've definitely seen it look terrible on some people.

I think this is what Rabbi Falk spoke about in London recently (I didn't hear him but my daughter did) about the latest fashion being skirts over skirts. He didn't approve although I can't think why.

um does he EVER approve of anything?

Yes. I believe he approves of a stewardess.

Miri, I actually don't mind this look. Never tried it on myself, so I don't know if I could pull if off, but stylewise-- I'm not ashamed of looking like a flaming Flatbushie from time to time.

My poor SO still thinks that a Batya is a what, and not a who.

It doesn't disturb me NEARLY as much as the leggings that stick out past the bottom of the skirt look :bad:

That's weird. So they wear a dress that barely covers their rear and then this skirt ALSO?

When done right i don't think it looks weird. If its the right fabric and flare it just looks like a look tunic.

i think if the dress is short enough it almost looks like a regular top with short skirt. When the dress is just a few inches shorter than the skirt, it looks odd IMO.

the relative in question had the original dress like knee length and the "tznius" skirt mid-calf. it was disastrous, though i love her dearly.

Yes, I am sick of this layered look. If a skirt or shirt is not tznius, just don't wear it. Is that so difficult?

i love layered tops!

The dress is often just a few inches too short, not necessarily mid-thigh.

if it's just a few inches too short, i hate the look. if it's a sweater dress, which are usually mid-thigh, then it looks fine to me.

Yes. I believe he approves of a stewardess.

oy!

ewwwwww! the skirt for this assemble can't be more than 1-2 inches below the knee, otherwise it looks horrible.

The leggings-under-a-skirt look aren't great, but were inevitable considering that tunics and leggings were the fashion of the past fall.

Basketball shorts under a skirt? Very weird, reminds me of bloomers.

I think it's clever. It can work. Sometimes it just looks like a strip of black fabric at the hem of the shorter skirt.

i dont know y a skirt shell would be banned. there r plenty of stores in NYC selling them. also, is it true that Lipa was banned in the UK? cuz i think hes a very good singer that bridges different communities of Jews, and theres certainly nothing wrong with that. so many teens r OTD in england and the rabbis are just driving them that way.
