And no, I don't think vacationing alone is pathetic. I think it's a great way to recharge, and I'm happy to spend some time with myself.

Also, what's your budget?
I really enjoyed hiking in Mohonk, and it's really non-isolated so it feels safe on your own, but if you're gonna stay on the resort overnight, it's $$$. (Of course there are plenty of other places to stay the night around there for $70.)

Yes on nature. No on history. Yes on art. Maybe $200 for the trip? Is that doable?Do you like nature? History? Art?

There are also a ton of other places to hike that don't charge $12 -- Bez would be better equipped to name them. Depends on how comfortable you are hiking alone.

Once you're married that means that you're always attached at the hip? I honestly never understood people who look confused when married people go away without each other sometimes. I went on an all girls' Memorial Day vacation for 3 nights, this past May - it was interesting to see the looks I got for being comfortable vacationing without my husband. Personally, I think it's a very healthy thing for a marriage, if you can manage it for other reasons (money, kids, etc.).Arent u married?
(You planning on bringing your wife to Uman with you every year?)

I knew u were going to bring the Uman thing up.Uman isnt vacation..its like 24 hours yeshiva for a week non stop..serious avodah.. i know vacation is important..its just a lil random thats all.Have fun.
I can imagine Uman being a high and important experience for you, but for the majority of guys who go - it's a vacation.

this isn't an uman debate but that statements a bit presumptious. Do you think the majority of the 50,000 men who showed up in uman this year decided to shell out a small fortune to forgo their own beds, familiar food and quality time with their family in exchange for being crammed on mattresses in unpleasant facilities, communal dining halls, because they consider it a "vacation"? I'm sure at least 25,000 of those coming would realize you could get a far better vacation for the say 1.5 thou they are spending on their trip. Sorry for hijacking but i really can't stand hearing these accusations.

If a man stands in the middle of the forest speaking and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?
