How does flying on Thanksgiving Day compare to flying on an ordinary day?

I've never flew on Thanksgiving, but travel in general is usually deserted.

it's cheaper, but the travellers are crankier. it's definitely not deserted.

If you're a turkey, definitely more dangerous.

I might have flown once on Thanksgiving and found the flights to be very empty, as most people fly on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Do they serve turkey on the plane? Oh wait, they don't serve ANYTHING on the plane anymore. NVM...

Oh this reminds me of a story. So when I was in college, and had REALLY long hair. Phish played in Hartford on Erev Thanksgiving, so I of course went to the show, and after unsuccessfully trying to hitchhike to my 'rents in Lawn Guyelend, I bit the bullet and took a Greyhound bus (the ONLY one in my entire life) with my friend from college (which I must add was a WONDERFUL experience) and apparently crashed on his parents' couch on Riverside Drive... (I DO remember eating bagels in the morning though but I wonder how we got from Port Authority to the UWS at like 3 or 4 am). So now its Thanksgiving morning and KR needs to get to his 'rents for Free Eats! so I remember that my Aunt lives in the citteh and usually takes the train to Kew Gardens (not Hills) where my grandfather OBM would pick her up and drive to my 'rents, so I call up and that is indeed the case so I decide I will chap a ride and pay $1.50 (I think) instead of exorbitant rates for the LIRR (on top of the $1.50 to get to Penn Station). So after not having slept more than a few hours, groggy from the night before, I put on my winter coat and backpack and head for the train, but I had to transfer to get to Queens, and being a spoiled Lawn Guyelend kid, I had little experience with pubic transportation... So I decide to ask some chick about the best place to transfer, so she takes one look at me, makes a face throws a dime at me and walks off in a huff :bigcry:

So I guess the maskana is:

Hitchhiking on Thanksgiving: BAD
Greyhound on Thanksgiving (at ungodly hours of the night): Not great, but it's probably always like that.
Subway on Thanksgiving: Demeaning...
Ride from Grandfather on Thanksgiving: r0x!

I remember it being emptier than normal but not TOTALLY empty. We got offered to bump but wanted to get there already so turned it down.

Every generation thinks that they invented the wheel.

Even I had long hair and listened to Phish (though not at the same time).

It is a place. One major town located there is Matzapizza.

I'm still into Phish, tho I don't get to see them much, but yeah the long hair is long gone... Lawn Guylund is where the people too cool for Brooklyn live...

I never claimed ownership of the idea, and in my case they WERE at the same time but not in any way related (I just "didn't feel like" cutting my hair for a few years, so I didn't)...

My cmment was in reference to Village's seeming surprise that anyone on these forums could like Phish.

Thank you guys for your information. (KR, you already told that story, though probably with a different moral.)

My experience was that it was relatively quiet but not eerily so, the TSA was a lot more friendly than usual, and people were very laid back. Also, there were a lot of children flying.

How do people travel on Tuesday / Wednesday? Who gets off on Thanksgiving eve (or eve's eve)?

Whoa. I should've transferred when I had the chance.
(Do you fly back on Monday for that reason?)

We've always waited until Monday to fly back (and missed a day of work) cuz tickets are like $200 cheaper than theyd be on Sunday.

They smiled as they strip-searched you?

Just send an e-mail to your boss saying, "Dude, I'll be out on Tuesday and Wednesday and the next Monday. If you need me, call my cell phone or shoot me an e-mail."

Yes but not everyone had the pleasure of hearing it, and my stories are multifaceted....
