BTs live in Israel for the same reason they became frum: to escape.

Yeah - because no singles live on their own in the UWS...

Pinchas is right - micha

For the record, IRL he is a really nice guy! - HappyDuck, Z"L

That's my point. (You don't have to come to Israel to escape like Sweet wrongly claimed.)

Of course. People get married to escape too.

I feel like doing a roundabout of all of your charming posts of the day, Pinchas. You're on quite a roll.

Look, I'm sure many BTs are for real and get what yiddishkeit is all about and want it despite the challenges it brings.

But for those that think its just about sitting and strumming your guitar and singing about God and walking with him in every part of life and adding holiness and godliness to all you do....Or those who think they will be entering a society that is all good and kind and caring and have their priorities straight and seek to only do good and never do bad all day with perfect Rabbis and leaders to show them the light, they might be in for a sudden and painful awakening when they realize thats not all religious life is cracked up to be.
God, grant us the...
Serenity to accept things we cannot change,
Courage to change the things we can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference
Patience for the things that take time
Appreciation for all that we have, and
Tolerance for those with different struggles
Freedom to live beyond the limitations of our past ways, the
Ability to feel your love for us and our love for each other and the
Strength to get up and try again even when we feel it is hopeless.

So why are we assuming that Matisyahu is no longer shomer Torah umitsvoth?

Israelite by birth, Hebrew by adoption, Jewish by conversion

Or maybe now that he's rich and famous there are some groupies he wants to ###### and had he just been some guy on the block he would still be frum and happy with his wife and kids and whatever else he had in his life.

So why are we assuming that Matisyahu is no longer shomer Torah umitsvoth?

We're not assuming, we're inferring.

So you're saying that he's going OTD so he can ##### some groupies?? That's a little ridiculous, don't you think?

I'm saying -- in contrast with LTL's blaming frum society for this -- that being rich and famous messes with your head.

I'm not, definitely not at this point. He still has a religious wife and kids and just becuase you shave a beard it doesnt mean you dropped everything.

Or maybe now that he's rich and famous there are some groupies he wants to ###### and had he just been some guy on the block he would still be frum and happy with his wife and kids and whatever else he had in his life.

I'm not just talking about him now, I'm talking in general.

You hardly need to be rich and famous to want to ######.

This thread about Matisyahu. If you want to talk about BT-to-OTD's in general, take it to another thread. Matisyahu is clearly a special case.

Aren't you being a bit presumptive? You don't even know him.

You don't have to know somebody personally to know that being rich and famous messes with your head.
