What do people think about the decision by a German court to propose a ban on circumcision after it is branded as "bodily harm".

Jews have lived in Germany for 1000 years. They have every right to live there, like they can live in Egypt and Spain or anywhere else.
This decision is leftism at its finest, a real nanny state decision. They will tell you what you can do with your children.
It needs to be condemned and the judge hounded and legislation introduced to reverse it. We will see the same efforts come here.

I think it's great. I agree that circumcision is mutilation.

Jews can live in Saudi Arabia for all they want. I never said anything about "rights." But let's not be dumb about it. History has proven all too well the Germans are no friend of the Jew... and banning bris milah is the first step towards gas chambers...

Broadly speaking, liberalism emphasizes individual rights and equality of opportunity. Different forms of liberalism may propose very different policies, but they are generally united by their support for a number of principles, including extensive freedom of thought and speech, limitations on the power of governments, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market or mixed economy, and a transparent system of government

I would add to that, Children should not be forced to brush their teeth. They should be given the ability to make that decision when they are older. You should not force children into school either. Let them decide when they are older if they want to know math etc.

You are comparing brushing teeth with amputating a body part?

In a way yes. You think its important to brush teeth, I think mila is important.
I'm comparing values. A parents decisions will usually have an affect on the life of the child.

The foreskin has a function.

Do you honestly not know what the function of the foreskin is?

Men without a foreskin can function sexually, but those with one function better.

The foreskin functions in a way similar to the eyelid or the hood of the female clitoris: it protects a mucus membrane that is not meant to be exposed all the time. It also protects nerves and sensitivity in this way.

Yes, there are statistics that shows that circumsized men may be slightly less likely to transmit (not contract) HIV.

However, a condom can take care of that even better, and without cutting off a body part.

G-d said to circumcise our sons on the 8th day. Full stop.

Circumcision is hardly 'bodily harm' any more than is tonsillectomy or appendectomy.

The German court wasn't too smart. Are they going to fine and/or imprison Jews who circumcise their babies? That'll go down well, won't it???
